The photographs, texts, slogans, drawings, images, animated sequences with or without sound, logos, icons and graphic chips of this application are its property or the property of third parties who have authorised the City of Nantes and/or Nantes Métropole to use them. Consequently, and in application of articles L.111-1 and L.335-2 et seq. of the French Intellectual Property Code, any partial or total reproduction of one of these elements without the explicit authorisation of an authorised person representing “Nantes Métropole – Direction Générale de l’Information et de la Relation au Citoyen” is prohibited and constitutes an infringement liable to prosecution.

What is carto.julesverne.nantemetropole.fr?

This internet service, called “Application”, is a tool for finding out about and referencing places of memory dedicated to Jules Verne and his work. The aim of this interactive map is to demonstrate the international scope of the cultural heritage of the author of Extraordinary Journeys.

Its initial content is based on the research work of Jean Demerliac, and is intended to be enriched by contributions from users.

Is the Application free to use?

Access to the Application is free, excluding connection costs.

What equipment is needed?

The Application requires an internet connection. The Application is designed to work with a large number of configurations.
However, the Collectivité cannot be held responsible for a total or partial lack of operation or for occasional or non-occasional malfunctions, resulting either from the use of certain hardware or software, or from their inappropriate configuration.

Licence applicable to contributions by users of the site

The user of the site accepts in advance that his or her contribution is governed by the “Creative Commons Zero” licence, implying that he or she waives his or her copyright (to the extent permitted by law). To find out more: https://creativecommons.org/choose/zero/.
However, if Nantes Métropole publishes contributions that are protected as intellectual works, the name of the author and the words “Copyright reserved” are indicated next to these works.

How moderation works

Users’ proposed contributions (texts and associated visuals) are subject to moderation by the Jules Verne Museum, in other words a preliminary examination of the content and form, followed or not by modifications, partial or total, or even no publication on the site.

Nantes Métropole, hereinafter referred to as “the local authority”, is particularly careful to protect your personal data from end to end.

For this reason, the local authority only communicates your personal data to authorised and specified recipients, depending on the nature of the data and in accordance with the provisions of the applicable regulations.

These recipients are as follows: authorised staff within the local authority’s departments and in particular staff from Nantes Métropole’s Digital Resources Department, the website host, a service provider responsible for the security of the application and the service provider responsible for corrective and progressive maintenance.

The local authority requires its service providers to comply with the security rules laid down by the CNIL and the ANSSI, in terms of both technical and organisational aspects, in order to protect your data against any unlawful disclosure, use, modification or destruction.

How long are your details kept?

Connection data (IP address, date and time of connection) is kept for a maximum of 6 months. At the end of these periods, this data is rendered anonymous or deleted.

Is your data transferred outside the European Union?

No. In line with the Metropolitan Data Charter that it has adopted, Nantes Métropole has chosen sub-contractors located in France, as is the case with the application host.

How is the security of your data ensured?

Nantes Métropole takes all appropriate organisational and technical measures as well as all useful precautions to preserve the security and confidentiality of the information you entrust to us, in particular against any accidental loss, deformation, alteration and against any unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure.

Intrusion tests are carried out regularly to detect any security flaws.
Similarly, the technical foundations and bricks as well as the libraries are regularly updated, particularly with a view to correcting any flaws.
